Witch Hazel
Witch Hazel is an all-natural ingredient derived from a shrub with airy, yellow buds. It has been used for decades in the beauty community and is well-known for its soothing, anti-inflammatory properties. In our natural toner, witch hazel can aid in calming redness, eczema, and psoriasis.
When applied topically, witch hazel not only helps reduce inflammation but also prevents further skin damage through the powerful tannins it possesses. Tannins have been shown to prevent inflammation-causing bacteria from entering your skin, and witch hazel has also helped in neutralizing free radicals. Free radicals are nasty and contribute to most of the signs of premature aging.
Witch hazel also wards off infection and is a natural astringent. The tannins in the solution have antiviral properties that help stave off and solve viral infections like herpes, and the astringent properties of witch hazel tighten pores to help prevent further bacterial penetration.
Because of this, it’s been used topically to treat cold sores and other similar conditions. This powerful ingredient takes the place of the alcohol used in other toners, yet doesn’t dry out or irritate skin. Witch hazel is just all-natural, tannin and antioxidant-filled goodness for your skin.
Aloe Vera
Aloe is a powerful botanical, and we know you’ve seen one or two videos on the benefits of having a few leaves on hand! It’s so slimy and messy to deal with, though, so we prefer the quick, clean option of using it in a mist form.
The sticky plant isn’t only good for sunburns, it also has powerful acne-fighting capabilities. Aloe is known for its antibiotic properties, fighting the bad bacteria that cause breakouts and acne on the skin. On top of that, aloe contains naturally-occurring salicylic acid, an enzyme that exfoliates dead skin and dirt to help unclog pores.
Aloe also helps prevent fine lines and wrinkles! While it can’t magically reverse deep wrinkles, aloe does boost the production of collagen and elastin fibers by stimulating fibroblast activity. With the increased collagen and elastin production, fine lines have a harder time forming and skin will take on a younger, bouncier look. The zinc in the plant also acts as an astringent, tightening pores and evening the complexion of skin to look more youthful overall.
Aloe is such a powerful ingredient, so we made it one of the stars of our mist! Our Butterfly Toning Mist contains 35% aloe vera juice, which makes up the base liquid of our toner for healthier, happier skin naturally.
Butterfly Pea Tea
Butterfly pea tea is packed with antioxidants and bursting with natural health benefits. Used in Ayurvedic medicine for centuries, the butterfly pea flower is known for its anti-inflammatory and antibacterial properties as well as its gorgeous blue-purple color.
Drinking butterfly pea tea is helpful for a large variety of ailments, and you can learn more about the tea in one of our previous blogs, but it is also incredibly useful as a topical treatment. The anti-inflammatory properties soothe skin irritation and redness while the powerful antioxidants fight free-radicals to help prevent signs of aging alongside the aloe.
The butterfly pea flower is what lends our toner its incredible purple hue. The mist contains no artificial colors or preservatives, so it maintains all the positive properties of the ingredients with no harsh chemicals to irritate the skin.
So to simplify their roles a bit: aloe adds moisture back into the skin and can help reduce acne while the witch hazel dries excess oil as well as tones pores and butterfly pea tea fights bacteria and free radicals.

What Makes Our Toner Different?
No extra water
If you check out the labels on most other toners, the first ingredient will be water. Larger companies charge you extra for a product that is mostly water with a few effective ingredients thrown in. Here at Teami, we know that the more effective ingredients in the product, the better results our communi(tea) will enjoy!
That’s why our Butterfly Toning Mist has zero added water. Instead, the base is made out of aloe vera juice, one of the most active, beneficial ingredients. Added in is witch hazel and our butterfly pea tea along with some natural vegetable glycerin to round it all out.
The result? A natural toner that actually works while helping to soothing inflammation, refresh skin, tighten pores, and helping to prevent premature aging. All of the ingredients are calming and amazing for skin making this a toner that you can use 2-3 times a day (or as many as you want, really)!
No Alcohol. Period.
This is a big one. Simply put, alcohol is added into a large number of toners out there, and alcohol is proven to irritate and dry out skin while causing breakouts as well. We have zero alcohol in our toning mist, only all-natural witch hazel, aloe vera, and butterfly pea tea.

How to Use Our Butterfly Toning Mist
If you’re on the go, just spray a few times directly onto your skin. Hold about 10 inches away from your face and spritz for a quick, rejuvenating experience.
If you’d prefer, you can spray or pour a small amount onto a cotton ball or cotton pad. Gently swipe in upwards motions onto a clean face and over decolletage.
