When you think of eating healthy and doing a detox - do you think of dessert? The real answer, probably not! There is a huge misconception around detoxing and dieting that you have to cut out dessert and all of your favorite foods entirely to eat veggies and things you might not necessarily like. That's why most people fail their diets in under a week! 

We're here to tell you, YES,  that you can eat all of your favorite meals and desserts with a few simple ingredient swaps so you can stay on track and maintain your healthy lifestyle for good! Healthy shouldn't be a drag, it should be fun and fulfilling! You're giving your body what it needs to function at it's best to be the best YOU! How exciting is that?

So how can dessert be healthy? Well, lets start with why your average dessert isn't good for you. Of course, they're loaded with sugar - but specifically they're made with white sugar which is the worst kind for your body. It's hard to digest, effects your weight, causes skin issues and just overall is detrimental to your body. There are also other factors in desserts like heavy flours that are a nightmare on your digestive system and preservatives to make them last! Yuck!

So back to the question of how we can turn some desserts healthy to indulge in our sweet tooth. Like we mentioned, sugar is a huge component of desserts, but there are plant based alternative sweeteners that actually come with health benefits, not damage! These include honey, stevia and special sugars like coconut sugar. Another factor is the flour we use! We love almond or coconut flour as an alternative because it's not only natural but great for diets like paleo with it's low carb count!

And remember, these simple ingredient swaps go for everything - not just dessert! You can make healthy tacos, pineapple fried rice, and so much more in a healthier way so it doesn't feel so "diet-y" to be healthy! To show you just how good healthy versions of desserts are (we see you, skeptics!) we put together three of our favorite recipes for you to try this week! 




  • 2 cups unsalted smooth almond butter
  •  1/2 cup cacao powder
  •  1 tsp baking soda
  • 1/2 tsp pink salt
  • 2 eggs 
  • 1/2 cup 100% maple syrup
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract

 

These brownies will seriously change your life! They're made with NO sugar at all! Try them out yourself to taste the ooey-gooey chocolate goodness!
