How to Apply Eye Cream Like a Pro

They say the eyes are the window to the soul – and the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles might make you feel like you’re revealing a little too much. However, there’s a reason that this particular area of your face shows aging faster: the skin around your eyes is the thinnest on the body. In fact, it’s up to four times thinner than the skin on the rest of your body. That also means it loses water faster, which leads to visible signs of aging. An eye cream helps keep the delicate skin around your eyes moisturized and healthy, but it is crucial to apply eye cream properly.

Preparing your skin for eye cream

Before you even begin applying eye cream, it is important to prepare your skin for application. First, wash your hands, and then cleanse your skin with your favorite cleanser. After cleansing (whether it’s in the morning or at night), pat your skin dry. Then, moisturize with your go-to Teami serum or Teami moisturizer (or both!). Now you’re ready to apply your eye cream! And this goes without saying, but definitely apply your eye cream before makeup, such as concealer.

Applying your eye cream

The number one rule of applying eye cream is this: be gentle. Never tug or pull on the skin around your eyes – this applies to when you’re cleansing and removing makeup and when you apply eye cream.

Step 1: Pick up your eye cream with your ring finger

Eye cream is more concentrated than other moisturizers. You will only need a small amount for both eyes. And because this area is so delicate, you’ll want to apply it with your ring finger. The ring finger has the least amount of pressure when you apply your eye cream

Step 2: Place small eye cream dots from the outer brow bone to the inner corner

Do not rub your eye cream in harshly. Start with small dots applied to the under-eye area. Then, tap the area gently until the eye cream is absorbed. Again, do not tug or pull on the skin. Pulling on the skin under your eyes causes it to lose elasticity. It can also damage collagen and even break capillaries, contributing to the appearance of dark circles.

Step 3: Let your eye cream absorb

Before applying makeup, it is important to let any skincare – including eye cream – absorb properly. When it isn’t absorbed, makeup won’t sit on your skin properly, and you won’t get the look that you want!

Choosing an eye cream

There are many eye creams on the market – and it can be overwhelming to pick one that is right for you. You might see an eye cream for dark circles and wonder if the eye cream for puffiness works better. Or you might see an anti-aging eye cream and wonder if it actually works. The trick to choosing an eye cream is to look for one with ingredients that will smooth, hydrate, and brighten your skin. Here are some ingredients to look for that improve the appearance of skin around your eyes.

Caffeine: Caffeine calms skin and helps reduce under-eye puffiness. Another benefit is that just like caffeine wakes you up when you drink a cup of coffee, it also wakes up tired eyes by reducing the appearance of dark circles.

Niacinamide: This skincare rockstar has so many benefits, such as improving the function of the skin barrier (the entire body’s first line of defense), minimizing redness, and reducing hyperpigmentation.

Vitamin C: One of the biggest challenges of maintaining the appearance of healthy eyes are dark circles. Vitamin C helps reduce the appearance of under-eye circles and redness in general.

Meet the Teami Renew Vitamin C Eye Cream

If you have been searching high and low for the eye cream that is right for you, look no further than the Teami Renew Vitamin C Eye Cream! With its lightweight and pillowy texture, the skin around your eyes will never feel slippery or oily. Instead, this eye cream absorbs quickly into your skin to deliver an all-star roster of beneficial and gentle vitamins and plant extracts!

Here’s a hint – it definitely contains the big three mentioned above – caffeine, niacinamide, and of course Vitamin C – but it also contains some other notable ingredients that will soften fine lines and improve the overall appearance of the skin around your eyes. Here’s some of the other incredible ingredients in our deeply hydrating and brightening formula.

Hyaluronic acid: Hyaluronic acid helps skin look and feel soft and supple. It also brightens the skin. However, one of its most impressive properties is that it draws in moisture to retain hydration.

Matrixyl 3000: It sounds sci-fi, but this peptin is a powerful wrinkle-reducing ingredient that is even more powerful than Retin A and stimulates collagen production. Orchistem: It is what it sounds like: orchistem comes from a species of orchid flowers native to China, Korea, and Japan. Made with orchid stem cells, it helps restore elasticity, firmness, and improves the appearance of the natural contours of your eyes.

Teami Renew Vitamin C Eye Cream also contains several plant extracts that promote brightness and hydration, including hibiscus extract, green tea extract, and cherry extract.
